Place matters…
High Cove is located along Rebels Creek Road, in the heart of a region that includes Yancey and Mitchell Counties, North Carolina, roughly equal distance between the towns of Bakersville, Burnsville and Spruce Pine. We are about an hour from downtown Asheville and an hour from Boone, NC. We are a little more than an hour from Johnson City, TN.
Mitchell County has a long history, but since the 1960s it has become known in particular for its population of artists, potters and crafts people. Many have been attracted to the county by the nearby Penland School of Craft.
We believe that the sustainability of a community depends on the way it connects to both the natural and social environment. High Cove sits on land that reflects the regional ecosystem, and it is has become part of the social, cultural and economic life of Mitchell County.
